As one of two co-assistant Writing Program Administrators for Iowa State University’s large (7500 students a year) foundational communication courses (ISUComm), I
- Assisted with TA orientation, 3 years
- Participated in program assessment, 2 years
- Developed the tool for program assessment
- Helped revise common FYC assignments and rubrics
- Offered reflection and ePortfolio workshops to instructors
- Advised instructors about implementing ePortfolios
- Answered WPA-directed emails from students
- Evaluated students who wanted to test out of FYC
- Assisted with answering grade appeals
- Mentored a TA struggling with lesson planning
I helped design and promote a new emphasis in our multimodal curriculum; after we conducted the 2015 programmatic assessment, we realized our emphasis on reflection needed to be refined to promote deeper learning through better reflective practices.
